PCOS / Endometriosis Management

PCOS/PMOS & Endometriosis Hormone Management In Gainesville, FL

Physician-led consultations

Mooi offers individualized hormone and menstrual health consultations led by Dr. Tracey Botha, a board-certified OB-GYN.

Patients who have been diagnosed with PCOS/PMOS or endometriosis, have questions about a previous diagnosis, or would like to discuss hormone-related concerns may schedule a private consultation with Dr. Botha.

PCOS/PMOS and endometriosis are separate medical conditions with different clinical considerations. Recommendations are made only after an appropriate evaluation, review of relevant medical information and patient screening.
Scheduling a consultation does not mean that a particular test, medication, hormone therapy or wellness service will be recommended.

Understanding PCOS and PMOS terminology

Polycystic ovary syndrome, commonly known as PCOS, is now also referred to as Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome, or PMOS.
Because the updated terminology is new, both PCOS and PMOS may be used for clarity. Endometriosis is a separate condition and requires its own clinical evaluation and treatment considerations.

What is reviewed during your consultation?

Your visit begins with an in-depth consultation with Dr. Botha. Depending on your individual circumstances, she may review:
Your medical and surgical history
Menstrual and reproductive history
Previous diagnoses and evaluations
Current medications and supplements
Previous hormone therapy or other treatments
Available laboratory and imaging results
Current questions and concerns
Fertility plans, when relevant
Personal and family medical history
Potential risks or contraindications
Care currently provided by other medical professionals
This information allows Dr. Botha to determine whether additional evaluation, testing, treatment planning or coordinated care should be considered.
Laboratory testing is not automatically required for every patient.
Following your consultation, Dr. Botha may recommend testing when she determines that it is clinically appropriate. Testing may include hormone, thyroid, metabolic, nutritional or other markers relevant to the individual evaluation.
Laboratory findings are considered together with your medical history, previous records and other clinical information. No individual laboratory result independently determines a diagnosis or treatment recommendation.
Additional records, imaging or evaluation by another healthcare professional may also be recommended.
After reviewing your medical history and available clinical information, Dr. Botha will discuss any next steps that may be appropriate.
Recommendations may include:
  • Additional medical evaluation
  • Review or coordination of existing care
  • Appropriate laboratory or diagnostic testing
  • General nutrition or lifestyle guidance
  • Discussion of prescription options
  • Discussion of hormone therapy when clinically appropriate
  • Follow-up monitoring
  • Referral to or coordination with another specialist
  • No additional treatment at this time
Not every patient receives the same recommendations. Clinical appropriateness is determined by Dr. Botha following evaluation.
A consultation does not guarantee that medication or hormone therapy will be prescribed.
When a prescription option is considered, Dr. Botha will discuss its intended clinical purpose, potential risks, possible side effects, limitations, available alternatives and follow-up requirements.
Medication selection and treatment planning are individualized. Mooi does not use a standard public treatment protocol for patients with PCOS/PMOS, endometriosis or other hormone-related concerns.
When a compounded medication is considered, patients will be informed that compounded medications are not FDA-approved. FDA-approved alternatives will be discussed when relevant and available.
Follow-up recommendations depend on your medical history, evaluation and individualized care plan.
During follow-up appointments, Dr. Botha may review:
  • No prescription treatment at this time
  • Additional medical evaluation
  • Review or coordination of existing care
  • Relevant laboratory testing
  • General nutrition or lifestyle guidance
  • Discussion of an FDA-approved prescription option
  • Discussion of a compounded prescription option when clinically and legally appropriate
  • Follow-up monitoring
  • Referral to another healthcare professional
Care may be continued, modified or discontinued based on Dr. Botha’s clinical judgment and the patient’s individual circumstances.
