What is breast augmentation with fat transfer and Renuvion?
Implant-Free Breast Augmentation at Mooi combines fat transfer with Renuvion, also known as J-Plasma, when appropriate.
Fat is collected from donor areas such as the abdomen, flanks, thighs or back using liposuction. The collected fat is then processed and carefully transferred to selected areas of the breasts. Renuvion may also be included when Dr. Botha determines that soft-tissue contraction should be considered as part of the surgical plan.
The procedure is personalized according to your breast anatomy, available donor fat, skin characteristics and desired degree of enhancement. Fat-transfer breast augmentation generally provides a more modest increase in volume than implant-based augmentation.
Why patients choose implant-free breast augmentation
- Uses fat collected from your own body
- Does not require silicone or saline implants
- May add modest volume and address selected shape concerns
- Personalized to your anatomy and available donor fat
- May include Renuvion® when appropriate
- Provides an implant-free option for selected patients
How does the treatment work?
Fat Harvesting
Fat is collected from one or more donor areas using liposuction. Common donor areas may include the abdomen, flanks, thighs, back or other areas with sufficient available fat.
Fat Processing
The collected fat is carefully processed in preparation for transfer.
Fat Placement
The prepared fat is placed in clinician-selected areas of the breasts according to your anatomy and individualized surgical plan.
Renuvion Soft-Tissue Contraction
Renuvion uses radiofrequency energy and helium plasma to coagulate and contract subcutaneous soft tissue. It may be considered as part of the procedure when appropriate for the patient’s anatomy and treatment plan.
Renuvion is FDA-cleared for coagulation and contraction of subcutaneous soft tissue and for use following liposuction in aesthetic body contouring.
Is this the same as breast implants?
No. Fat-transfer breast augmentation does not use silicone or saline implants. Instead, it uses fat collected from another area of your body.
The amount of enhancement depends on your anatomy, available donor fat and individual response. Patients seeking a larger increase in breast size may need a different surgical plan.
Is this the same as a traditional breast lift?
No. Implant-Free Breast Augmentation adds volume but does not replace a traditional breast lift when significant sagging, excess skin or nipple-position concerns are present.
Dr. Botha will determine whether fat transfer, Renuvion, a breast lift or another procedure may be appropriate for your anatomy and goals.
What can this treatment address?
Mild breast volume loss
Subtle breast enhancement
Breast asymmetry
Shape irregularities
Mild skin laxity
Loss of upper-pole fullness
Natural-looking contour concerns
Patients who prefer to avoid implants
Treatment process
Your treatment begins with a consultation to review your goals, breast anatomy, skin characteristics, available donor areas, medical history and surgical candidacy.
During the procedure, fat is collected from selected donor areas through small incisions using liposuction. The fat is then processed and carefully transferred into selected areas of the breasts.
When appropriate, Renuvion may also be used as part of the individualized surgical plan.
Temporary swelling, bruising, tenderness or numbness may occur in the donor and treatment areas. Dr. Botha will provide personalized preparation, recovery and aftercare instructions.
Results & timeline
Temporary swelling may initially make the breasts appear fuller. As the treated areas heal, some of the transferred fat may naturally be reabsorbed.
The appearance of the breasts is evaluated over the following weeks and months. The final degree of volume and contour varies based on your anatomy, healing response, weight stability and the amount of transferred fat that remains.
Result longevity
Transferred fat that remains after the healing period may provide long-term volume. Breast shape and fullness may continue to change with aging, weight fluctuations, hormonal changes and pregnancy.
Maintaining a stable weight may help preserve the appearance of the treated areas.
Cost of the treatment
Starting at $10,000.
Frequently asked questions
Who is a good candidate?
Implant-Free Breast Augmentation may be considered for patients who:
- Prefer breast enhancement without implants
- Have sufficient donor fat available
- Are interested in a modest increase in volume
- Have selected shape or symmetry concerns
- Are near a stable weight
- Have realistic expectations
- Are appropriate candidates for a surgical procedure
A consultation with Dr. Botha is required to determine whether fat transfer, Renuvion or another procedure may be appropriate.
How much larger can my breasts get?
Fat-transfer breast augmentation is generally considered for a modest increase in breast volume. The amount that can be transferred depends on your available donor fat, breast anatomy and individualized surgical plan.
Can Renuvion Replace a Breast Lift?
Not in every case. Renuvion may be considered for selected soft-tissue laxity, but it does not replace a traditional breast lift when more extensive lifting or skin removal is needed.
Where is the fat taken from?
Common donor areas include the abdomen, flanks, thighs, back or other areas with sufficient available fat.
Will there be scars?
Small incisions are used for liposuction and fat-transfer access. Dr. Botha will discuss incision placement, healing and scar expectations during your consultation.
