How wrinkle relaxers work
Xeomin, Daxxify and Jeuveau are prescription botulinum toxin type A products. When injected into selected muscles, they temporarily reduce muscle activity associated with facial expression lines.
Your provider selects the product, treatment area and injection plan following an individualized facial assessment. Results and duration vary from patient to patient.

Xeomin is an FDA-approved botulinum toxin type A product formulated without accessory proteins. It is approved for the temporary improvement of moderate-to-severe upper facial lines in adults, including frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet.
Your provider may recommend Xeomin based on your facial anatomy, treatment history and aesthetic goals.
Daxxify is an FDA-approved botulinum toxin type A product formulated with a proprietary peptide-based stabilizer. Its cosmetic indication is the temporary improvement of moderate-to-severe glabellar lines between the eyebrows in adults.
Individual onset, appearance and duration vary. Dr. Botha will explain whether Daxxify is appropriate following your evaluation.
Jeuveau is an FDA-approved botulinum toxin type A product indicated for the temporary improvement of moderate-to-severe glabellar lines between the eyebrows in adults.
Dr. Botha may discuss Jeuveau as one of the available wrinkle relaxer options following an individualized facial assessment.

When will I notice a change?
Onset varies according to the product and individual response. Your provider will explain what is generally expected with the wrinkle relaxer selected for you.
Will I still have facial expression?
Treatment planning is intended to soften selected expression lines while considering natural facial movement. The degree of movement and final appearance vary by patient.
Are wrinkle relaxers permanent?
No. The effects are temporary. Any future treatment is determined based on your response, preferences and Dr. Botha’s evaluation.
How is the product selected?
Dr. Botha considers your facial anatomy, muscle activity, previous treatments, medical history, aesthetic goals and the FDA-approved indications of each product.
Important information
All FDA-approved botulinum toxin products carry a boxed warning concerning the possible spread of toxin effects beyond the injection area. Rare but serious symptoms can include generalized weakness and difficulty speaking, swallowing or breathing. Patients should seek immediate medical attention if these symptoms develop.
Patients should inform your provider about allergies, infection at a proposed injection site, neuromuscular conditions, previous botulinum toxin treatment, medications and other relevant medical information before treatment.
