Physician-led PRP microneedling for personalized skin care
The Dracula Treatment at Mooi combines traditional microneedling with platelet-rich plasma, commonly known as PRP, as part of an individualized aesthetic procedure.
Treatment begins with a consultation and skin evaluation with Dr. Tracey Botha. She will review your medical history, skin characteristics, previous procedures, current medications, areas of concern and aesthetic goals before determining whether PRP microneedling or another aesthetic option may be appropriate.
Not every patient, skin concern or treatment area is suitable for this procedure. The microneedling settings, treatment area and follow-up plan are determined following individualized evaluation and patient screening.
What is the Dracula treatment?
The Dracula Treatment combines two components:
Microneedling uses small needles to create controlled treatment channels in selected areas of the skin.
Platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, is prepared from a small sample of the patient’s own blood. The blood is processed to separate a platelet-rich portion, which is then used during the aesthetic procedure.
At Mooi, Dr. Botha determines how the PRP is incorporated into the treatment and whether the combined procedure is appropriate based on your skin, medical history and treatment goals.
Why patients consider PRP microneedling
Patients may schedule a Dracula Treatment consultation for:
- Physician-led skin evaluation
- A procedure using PRP prepared from their own blood
- Individualized microneedling depths and settings
- Evaluation of selected facial or body concerns
- A non-surgical, in-office aesthetic option
- Personalized preparation and aftercare guidance
- A discussion of alternative skin treatments available at Mooi
Scheduling a consultation does not guarantee that PRP microneedling will be recommended.
Areas and concerns that may be evaluated
Depending on your skin and Dr. Botha’s evaluation, PRP microneedling may be discussed for selected concerns involving:
Uneven-looking skin texture
Fine facial lines
Enlarged-looking pores
Selected acne scars
Selected surgical scars
Areas of uneven coloration
Selected stretch marks
Face, neck or other appropriate treatment areas
Is the Dracula treatment appropriate for everyone?
No. Clinical appropriateness depends on your medical history, skin characteristics, current medications and supplements, previous cosmetic procedures, active skin irritation or infection, history of pigmentation or scarring, relevant blood or bleeding considerations, pregnancy or breastfeeding status, proposed treatment area and aesthetic goals.
Based on this evaluation, Dr. Botha may recommend PRP microneedling, another aesthetic service, additional assessment or no procedure at this time.
Your Dracula Treatment, step by step
Before Treatment
Your appointment begins with an evaluation of your skin and the proposed treatment area. Dr. Botha or a member of Mooi’s clinical team will explain the procedure, relevant considerations, limitations, alternatives and aftercare requirements.
Your skin will be cleansed, and topical numbing may be applied when appropriate. A small blood sample will be collected and processed to prepare the PRP.
During Treatment
Microneedling is performed using clinician-selected needle depths and settings. The prepared PRP is then used as part of the individualized procedure.
You may experience pressure, warmth or a prickling sensation. Appointment length varies based on the treatment area and procedure plan.
After Treatment
Temporary redness, sensitivity, warmth, swelling, dryness or mild peeling may occur. The appearance and duration of these effects vary according to the treatment area, microneedling settings and individual response.
Mooi will provide personalized skincare, activity and sun-exposure instructions following your appointment.
Follow-Up and Treatment Planning
There is no standard number of Dracula Treatment procedures appropriate for every patient. Recommendations depend on your skin characteristics, treatment area, microneedling settings, response to the initial procedure and aesthetic goals.
During follow-up, Dr. Botha may evaluate the treated area, address questions or concerns and determine whether another procedure, continued monitoring or a different aesthetic option should be considered.
The number of sessions, degree of visible change and duration of any aesthetic result vary by patient.
Cost of the treatment

Frequently asked questions
What is PRP?
PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma. It is prepared by collecting and processing a small sample of the patient’s own blood to separate a platelet-rich portion for use during the procedure.
Is the Dracula Treatment the same as traditional microneedling?
Not exactly. Traditional microneedling uses controlled needle treatment without PRP. The Dracula Treatment combines microneedling with PRP prepared from the patient’s blood.
Dr. Botha will determine which approach may be appropriate following your skin evaluation.
How many procedures will I need?
There is no standard number appropriate for every patient. Follow-up recommendations depend on your skin, treatment area, procedure settings, individual response and aesthetic goals.
What is the downtime?
Recovery varies. Temporary redness, sensitivity, warmth, dryness, swelling or mild peeling may occur.
Dr. Botha or a member of Mooi’s clinical team will explain the anticipated recovery considerations and provide individualized aftercare instructions.
When will I notice a change?
The timing and degree of visible change vary according to the patient, treatment area and individualized procedure plan.
Follow-up allows Dr. Botha to evaluate the treated area and determine whether another appointment or a different aesthetic option should be considered.
Is the Dracula Treatment the same as a chemical peel?
No. PRP microneedling uses small needles and PRP prepared from the patient’s blood. A chemical peel uses a topical solution applied to the skin.
Dr. Botha will determine which procedure, if either, may be appropriate for your concerns.

Important information
FDA-cleared indications vary according to the specific microneedling device used. Microneedling devices are not FDA-cleared for the delivery of PRP or other blood products into the skin.
The combined use of microneedling with PRP is therefore off-label. Treatment at Mooi is offered following individualized evaluation, patient screening and Dr. Botha’s clinical judgment. Individual experiences vary, and no specific aesthetic outcome is guaranteed.
