What is Face and Neck Tightening?
Face and Neck Tightening at Mooi is a personalized, consultation-based service for patients concerned about skin laxity, localized fullness or changes in the appearance of the lower face, jawline and neck.
There is no single treatment appropriate for every patient. Some patients may be candidates for non-surgical or minimally invasive procedures, while others may benefit from discussing a surgical option.
For patients seeking a less invasive approach, Dr. Botha may use AYON™ technology as part of an individualized treatment plan. Depending on the areas being treated, the plan may include Renuvion®, VASER® or MicroAire® technology. Plexr® plasma technology may also be considered for selected surface-level facial concerns.
Why patients choose Face and Neck Tightening
- May address selected areas of loose or lax skin
- May refine the appearance of the jawline and neck
- Customized to your anatomy and goals
- Non-surgical and minimally invasive options may be available
- Surgical options may be discussed when more correction is needed
- Treatment planning is guided by a physician consultation
Non-surgical and minimally invasive options
AYON Skin Tightening
AYON is an integrated platform that may be used for selected minimally invasive face and neck procedures. Dr. Botha determines which technologies and treatment areas may be appropriate based on your anatomy, skin characteristics and goals.
Renuvion® Skin Tightening
Renuvion delivers helium plasma and radiofrequency energy beneath the skin as part of a tissue-contraction procedure. It may be considered for selected areas of laxity in the neck and beneath the chin.
VASER® and MicroAire®
When localized fullness is part of the concern, VASER or MicroAire technology may be included as part of the contouring process. The technology selected depends on the treatment area, anatomy and individualized procedure plan.
Plexr® Plasma Technology
For selected surface-level facial concerns, Plexr may be considered as a separate treatment option. Dr. Botha will explain whether this technology is appropriate for your treatment area and goals.
What Can Face and Neck Tightening Address?
Mild to moderate loose skin
Neck laxity
Jawline softening
Early jowling
Submental fullness
Loss of lower-face definition
Crepey skin texture
Skin laxity after weight changes
Patients who are not ready for a traditional surgical lift
Is this the same as a facelift?
No. Non-surgical or minimally invasive face and neck tightening is not the same as a surgical facelift or neck lift.
Less-invasive procedures may be considered for selected patients with mild to moderate concerns. Patients with more extensive skin laxity or excess tissue may benefit from discussing a surgical option.
During your consultation, Dr. Botha will determine which approach may be appropriate for your anatomy, goals and preferred recovery time.
Treatment process
Your treatment begins with a private consultation with Dr. Botha. During this visit, she will evaluate your facial structure, neck contour, skin characteristics, medical history, goals and preferred recovery time.
When a non-surgical or minimally invasive option is appropriate, your treatment plan may include AYON or another clinician-selected technology.
AYON-based procedures may be performed through small access points using local anesthetic. Depending on your individualized plan, selected technology may be used to address localized fullness, contour the treatment area or contract tissue beneath the skin.
Temporary swelling, bruising, soreness, tenderness or changes in skin sensation may occur. Dr. Botha or a member of Mooi’s clinical team will provide aftercare instructions based on your procedure.
Results & timeline
The timing and degree of visible change vary according to the treatment selected, areas treated, anatomy and individual response.
The treated areas are evaluated as temporary swelling decreases and the tissues settle. Dr. Botha will explain the anticipated timeline based on your individualized treatment plan.
Result longevity
The duration of visible changes varies by patient and procedure. Natural aging, weight changes, sun exposure, hormonal changes and other individual factors may affect the appearance of the treated areas over time.
Cost of the treatment
Price upon consultation.
Frequently asked questions
Is Face and Neck Tightening surgical or non-surgical?
It depends on your needs. Mooi Spa offers both surgical and non-surgical or minimally invasive options. Your consultation will determine which approach is best for your anatomy and goals.
What technology is used for non-surgical face and neck tightening?
Dr. Botha may use AYON technology, which can include Renuvion, VASER or MicroAire. Plexr plasma technology may also be considered for selected surface-level facial concerns.
Is this a replacement for a facelift?
No. Non-surgical or minimally invasive tightening may improve mild to moderate laxity, but it does not replace a surgical facelift or neck lift for patients with more advanced sagging or excess skin.
Will I need downtime?
Downtime depends on the treatment selected. Temporary swelling, bruising, soreness or tenderness may occur following minimally invasive procedures. Dr. Botha will explain the anticipated recovery before treatment.
When will I see results?
The timing varies according to the treatment performed and individual response. The treated areas are evaluated as temporary swelling decreases and the tissues settle.
