Precision Imaging for Joint and Soft-Tissue Procedures
Ultrasound-guided injections use real-time imaging to help Dr. Botha visualize the treatment area and guide needle placement during the procedure.
Ultrasound can display structures such as joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments while also helping the clinician identify nearby blood vessels and nerves. Unlike X-ray-based imaging, ultrasound does not use ionizing radiation.
Why Is Ultrasound Guidance Used?
Ultrasound guidance allows Dr. Botha to view the relevant anatomy while performing the injection. This may be particularly helpful when the treatment area is small, deep or located near other important structures. The use of ultrasound may assist with:
- Identifying the intended injection location
- Guiding needle placement in real time
- Viewing surrounding anatomical structures
- Avoiding nearby blood vessels and nerves
- Documenting the procedure when appropriate
The decision to use ultrasound guidance depends on the area being evaluated and Dr. Botha’s clinical judgment.
What Injection Options Are Available?
The injectable selected depends on the patient’s medical history, clinical evaluation and treatment plan.
Mooi may offer platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, as one of the options considered following evaluation. PRP is prepared using a sample of the patient’s own blood. The blood is processed to separate a platelet-rich portion, which is then used during the clinician-directed procedure.
PRP is not appropriate for every patient or every condition. Dr. Botha will discuss the proposed use, available evidence, potential risks, limitations, alternatives and expected follow-up before proceeding.
What Should I Expect?
Your care begins with an individualized consultation. Dr. Botha will review your medical history, medications, previous care, current concerns and relevant safety considerations.
When an injection is recommended, the procedure is performed in the office using sterile technique. Dr. Botha will explain the treatment area, injectable selected, potential risks, possible side effects and aftercare care requirements before the procedure.
Individual experiences vary, and no specific outcome is guaranteed.
Follow-Up Care
Follow-up recommendations depend on the procedure performed and your individualized care plan. Dr. Botha may review your response, questions or concerns and determine whether additional evaluation or care should be considered.
Cost of the treatment
Price upon consultation.
