What is Trifecta?
Trifecta is a non-surgical body contouring treatment that combines three modalities within an individualized plan: PEMF, HIFU Radial and compounded deoxycholic acid.
The treatment may be considered for selected areas of localized fullness, mild tissue laxity or body-contouring concerns. At Mooi, Trifecta begins with a consultation and body assessment with Dr. Botha to determine whether the treatment is appropriate for your anatomy, medical history and goals.
Why patients choose Trifecta
- Combines three treatment modalities
- Non-surgical body-contouring option
- May be considered for selected localized concerns
- Personalized treatment areas and settings
- Physician-directed treatment planning
How does Trifecta work?
PEMF, or Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy, applies electromagnetic pulses to the selected treatment area. Dr. Botha determines the settings and how PEMF is incorporated into the individualized treatment plan.
HIFU Radial uses ultrasound energy applied to clinician-selected areas beneath the skin. The treatment areas and settings are selected according to your anatomy, skin characteristics and body-contouring goals.
Compounded deoxycholic acid is an injectable treatment that may be considered for selected areas of localized fat. The amount and placement are determined by Dr. Botha following an individualized evaluation.
Compounded deoxycholic acid is not FDA-approved. FDA-approved deoxycholic acid is indicated only for fat beneath the chin; its use in other body areas is not an FDA-approved indication.
Together, these three approaches help support a more contoured, tightened, and sculpted appearance without surgery.
What areas may be considered?

Your treatment begins with a consultation and body-contouring assessment. During this visit, Dr. Botha will review your goals, evaluate the proposed treatment areas, discuss your medical history and determine whether Trifecta may be appropriate.
During treatment, you may experience warmth, pressure, muscle stimulation or temporary discomfort associated with the injectable portion of the procedure. Comfort measures may be used when appropriate.
Temporary swelling, bruising, tenderness, firmness, redness or soreness may occur following treatment. Individualized aftercare instructions will be provided.

Changes in the appearance of the treated areas are evaluated gradually. The timing and degree of visible change vary based on the treatment area, individualized plan and patient response.
