What is Intimate Bleaching
Intimate bleaching is a professional topical treatment for selected areas of darker or uneven-looking external skin. Treatment areas may include the perianal area, external vulvar area, bikini line, inner thighs, nipples or areolas, depending on the products used and the individual evaluation.
Darkening of intimate skin is common and may be associated with hormones, friction, aging, genetics, pregnancy, hair removal or natural skin variation. It is not a reflection of hygiene. At Mooi, treatment begins with a private consultation to evaluate the area and determine whether an in-office topical treatment and customized home-care plan may be appropriate.

The process
The treatment uses clinician-selected topical products applied to the external skin in the treatment area. The products and application plan are selected according to the area being treated, skin characteristics and individual goals.
Because intimate skin can be sensitive, treatment is performed conservatively. Personalized home-care instructions and products may also be provided as part of the treatment plan.
What to expect
Your appointment begins with a private consultation to review your concerns, skin characteristics, treatment area and goals. The external skin is then cleansed and prepared before the selected topical products are applied.
Mild tingling or sensitivity may occur. Dr. Botha or a member of Mooi’s clinical team will provide aftercare instructions, including how to use any recommended home-care products and which activities or products should be temporarily avoided.
Number of treatments needed
The number of treatments varies depending on the treatment area, skin characteristics, degree of discoloration and use of the recommended home-care products.
An individualized treatment plan will be discussed following evaluation.
Results
Changes in the appearance of the treated skin may develop gradually. The timing and degree of visible change vary by patient, treatment area and individualized plan.
Following the provided aftercare instructions and minimizing unnecessary irritation or friction may help maintain the treated area.
Downtime
Downtime is usually minimal, but the treated area may feel sensitive, dry, or mildly irritated for a short time. Some peeling or flaking may occur depending on the treatment strength and area treated.
Your provider will let you know when it is safe to resume shaving, waxing, exercise, intimacy, or other activities that may create friction in the area.
Cost of the treatment
Starting at $1,530.
Frequently asked questions
Is Intimate Bleaching right for me?
Clinical appropriateness depends on the treatment area, skin characteristics and topical products selected. A consultation is required so the area can be evaluated and appropriate treatment and home-care instructions can be provided.
Is intimate skin darkening normal?
Yes. Darkening in intimate areas is extremely common and may be related to hormones, friction, aging, genetics, pregnancy, or hair removal. It is not caused by poor hygiene.
Is Intimate Bleaching safe?
When performed professionally and with appropriate home care, intimate bleaching can be a safe option for improving the appearance of discoloration. Because these areas are delicate, treatment should only be done under professional guidance.
Does Intimate Bleaching hurt?
Most patients tolerate the treatment well. You may feel mild tingling, warmth, or sensitivity during or after treatment.
Can I bleach more than one area?
Yes. Multiple areas may be treated depending on your goals and your provider’s recommendation.
Do I need home care?
Home care may be recommended as part of the individualized treatment plan. Instructions will be provided based on the products selected and the area treated.
Are results permanent?
Results vary and may change over time. Hormonal changes, friction, aging and hair-removal practices may affect the future appearance of the area.
